I've already got aftermarket exhaust, headers, and a cold air intake system. I was thinking that my stock Cat might be the weak link in the chain. Should I try and upgrade to High Flow Cats? What type of Horsepower Gains should I expect? What are the Pros and Cons? Do they change the overall sound of my Exhaust System?
Thanks in Advance,
-Wade

My cat went bad on me a year ago and just wanted it taken off (since we dont have inspections) but decided to go with a performance cat.... and I can tell a difference not a major one but more than before......

high flow cat wont change your exhaust tone much if any at all....you wont get much power gain but still will get a little. Theres not really any cons except for the price as long as they meet emision regulations. There is a magnaflow brand you can get for like $50-70 too

I'd recommend the universal ones... you can call up Myers and ask who they order from, tell them Jacob (MX6 + C/K Chevy) sent you, they prob. remember me. I got them, hp was +19 on the mx6, but keep in mind I also had cams, ecu, intake, and headers before I added the cat, so the performance gain will be greater. Plus, my old cat was shot too... there is a def. performance gain, and yes, often times the cat IS the weak link in your exhaust system. Although a 1/4 mile gain is not necessarily 100% dependable (times can differ by up to .1 based solely on how the same driver goes easily, sometimes several tenths depending on conditions, tires, and vehicle maintenance). Either way, I did gain 0.2 in the 1/4 mile in terms of average times, and the fastest time with only difference being the cat was 0.5 faster than before!
I have no catalytic converter now. :)

^ that also depends on if your factory cat is clogged or not, I've not heard of high flow making that much of a different but I know its possible

The universal is the best route on almost all applications. Where you don't see alot of hp gains, you will see and feel the torque difference.
