From what I'm told it should be out by 2011.. I know its a long wait but it gives us time to save up.. I know this doesn't belong in this section but it is about CRX..

This new model wouldn't feature anything near as sophisticated as a double wishbone suspension up front if built, but rather incorporate simple MacPherson struts just like its sedan and coupe siblings, while the rear setup may receive a tautly tuned multi link design, although nothing has yet to be announced. Its hardly news that top-tier Civics, such as the Si and future CRX will get the new 200-hp K20 four-cylinder engine, which may actually end up being rated at 197-hp due to new SAE regulations, but still it will be the most powerful factory-built Civic ever, so we can expect some seriously tweaked versions of the coupe, at least, to show up at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas this November.

And this is great news for me....

Honda has now decided to make the new CRX a hybrid. That's according to latest word from inside Honda Central Command.

For years, if you recall, Honda absolutely refused to countenance the idea of a new CRX. Lately, however, the resistance has softened and a design specifically recalling the classic, tiny, revvy 1983-1992 CRX coupes has been approved.

Now the thinking has changed again, and the product planners have decided it must be employ a hybrid drive train (like a modern day Insight), albeit still called CRX..

The program has been pushed back from 2009 to 2011 as a result, but has raised renewed doubts in the meantime as to whether Honda really understands (or wants to understand) what CRX is really all about, and the passion the nameplate still engenders in the car enthusiast community. Can a hybrid coupe really be a true CRX?

No, the Small Hybrid Sports Concept shown at the Geneva Salon is not the next CRX, and neither is the Los Angeles Show's Remix. Unless plans change yet again, a concept version of the real thing will appear at October's Tokyo Show.

In our mind, replacing the boy-racer CRX with the emasculated Del Sol was one of the more retarded moves Honda's made in its entire history. In 2007, they'll finally rectify the error by bringing back the storied sportster, a staple of street racers and lovers of eco-friendly sporty-car fans alike. No other real news to be reported on the car as of now (including the number of seats), other than it will share a 197-horse mill with the Civic Si. We'll be interested to see as to where all of this slots in with the RSX
