take out the resinator, it usually sits behind the CAT. it looks like a small muffler. Take that out and replace with straight pipe and you should get the sound you want.

unless your looking for a big rice tone loud as hell, then try y piping it and two 15 inch resonators with square tips. it sounds dirty nasty loud. I know, that's what's on mine now.

^ since when did you get a V6 tib? I think you are trying to say that from your 4 cylinder you Y piped it to get dual exhaust, right? Him Y piping it would cause him to have a single outlet

i did remove the resinator! and i dont want to take off the cat! it would be to lot and not a good tone! but if i did y pipe it it would be from the pipe coming back to go to each pipe at the back!

sorry ranger, i didn't know it was a v6, i posted the reply quick and only skimmed through the problem.

if you have a dual exhaust, you can keep the cat, and what worked for mine was 2 15 inch resonators right before the tips. i don't really know if the square tips helped it but mine did. just fyi, it's really freaking loud. but then again, i'm kind of maturing out of the super crazy car things. just want to make mine look nice now, and not try to be a menace to my neighbors.

Yeah, don't remove the resonator - that helps give them smaller motors a deeper tone as opposed to a really loud whine. I'd just throw an electronic cut-out in there. Loud and a slight hp gain when you want it, and back to normal when you're just trying to go to school instead of spending all your time getting pulled over for a loud exhaust by the cops.

I still have a cut-out on the mx6, other than that, pretty-much a factory exhaust (sound). Maybe 10hp over my current exhaust setup, but +30dB and if I were to drive around with that cut-out open 24-7, I'd bet you I would have 15-20 tickets on my record, as opposed to a clean license.

yeah the resonator isnt going to do anything anyway really besides alter the sound. I dont recommend cutting cats unless you dont plan to do emissions. What you can do is get performance mufflers. If your car doesnt have them, headers will open up your exhaust more and add a little more noise

oh yeah, that reminds me, i have aftermarket headers too. stock cat still though.

High-flow cat will pass emissions (MX6 was 55% the max on NOx after high-flow). Exhaust cut-out won't effect it so long as you keep the cut-out closed as you go through inspection.

I meant cutting it all together, not a high flow, I have a high flow on my ranger

ok yea i didnt want to cut out the cat so i guess i will have to save up for headers! also i lose alot of the sound at like 3 grand any one know why? or know some how to fix that?

well since its not really a problem, its not really something "fixable". Its just how the motor is opperating at that range of RPM

If you want, once I get a bootleg-copy of a friend's comp program (computer program where you download engine and exhaust, etc. specs, and can get a good idea of what parts to run for max. performance) I can send those out to you guys.
